Tenets of Faith
We believe
There is one God eternally existing in three persons;
A. The Father- the almighty, omnipotent, omniscient, all powerful, Lord and Creator, the great I Am, the Beginning and the End, Holy, unchanging. (Revelation 22:13; Genesis 17:1; Revelation 19:6; Psalm 139:7–10).
B. The Son Jesus Christ – God’s only begotten Son, eternally exists with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He became flesh through the incarnation, by being conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary. He performed miraculous deeds as recorded in the scriptures. He is the only sinless Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world once and for all by His blood through His death on the cross. On the third day after His death and burial, He arose bodily from the dead (John 2:19-22). He ascended to the right hand of the Father where He ever lives to make intercessions for those who come to God through Him (Hebrews 7:25). He will soon descend from Heaven to meet in the clouds all those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior. From that time we who believe shall always be with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; Revelations 22:20).
C. The Holy Spirit – He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8). He guides into all truth (John 16:13). He regenerates those who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and He empowers them for Christ-likeness (John 3:6; Romans 10:9; Galatians 5:22, 23). He gives supernatural gifts to believers and empowers them for ministry (Mark 16:17, 18; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 12:7-11).
In the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Scriptures and that the Bible is inerrant in the original manuscripts as given through the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21).
We must be born again (John 3:3). Each of us has sinned and faces eternal torment unless saved from our sins. Our salvation is only by grace through faith in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. As a result, we have the blessed assurance of eternal life and eternal reward in Heaven (Matthew 25:34,41; John 3:3; 5:28,29; Romans 3:23,24; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8; Revelation 20:11-15).
In baptism by immersion in water (Matthew 28:19) when possible shall be administered to all those, who of their own free-will, accept Jesus Christ as their own and personal savior and who give clear evidence of their belief. It represents being born again with the impartation of the Divine Nature to the heart and life of the sinner (1 John 5-12). In this we identify with the birth, death, and Resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:2-7).
Holy communion, the remembrance ceremony of the Lord’s last supper shall be observed regularly (Luke 22:19 & 20; I Corinthians 11: 23-26)
The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is an experience different from the regenerating work and is for every believer (Acts 2:38, 39; Mark 16:17). Speaking in a language unknown to the individual believer is initial evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4; 10:44-48). We recognize there are 4 distinct types of tongues: A sign to unbelievers (1 Corinthians 14:20-25); When accompanied with interpretation, for edification of the congregation (1 Corinthians 14:26-32); For personal prayer, praise and worship (Ephesians 6:18 and 5:18-19); and for Intersession when we know not what to pray for (Romans 8:26-28).
Divine healing is part of redemption’s purchase and is God’s will for all who believe (Psalms 103:2, 3; Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24; James 5:14 and 15).
The Christian church is one body, the Body of Christ, composed of all born again believers, past present and future, in Jesus Christ (John 3:3-7; Romans 12:4, 5; Ephesians 4:4, 11-16). The local church is part of His body, self-governing according to the Scriptures, meets regularly, honors Christ, praises and worships together, preaches and teaches the Word, defends the Gospel, helps equip the saints, supports missions, helps widows and orphans, intercedes with prayer and fasting, helps feed the hungry, shows mercy to the poor, spreads the Gospel to all the world; stands against evil; baptizes and ordains, conducts dedications, weddings and funerals, receives tithes and offerings.
Sanctification by having faith in God’s Word, the inward evidence to the believer of his salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16). The outward evidence to all people is a life demonstrating the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) in righteousness and true holiness.
A. By personal commitment to God’s plan for Christian living which produces the Fruit of the Spirit in all goodness and righteousness and truth (Ephesians 5:9; Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 8:1-2; 12:1-2).
B. Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication to God (Hebrews 12:14; Romans 12:1-2; I Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 13:12).
C. Sanctification is realized in the believer by recognizing his identification with Christ in His death and resurrection; and by faith, reckoning daily upon the fact of that union; and by offering every faculty continually to the dominion of the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:1-11, 13; 8:1-2, 13; Galatians 2:20; Philippians 2:13, I Peter 1:5).
In the Bodily Resurrection
A. Eternal life for those who accept Jesus as their savior (Matthew 25:46; Luke 18:30; John 10:28; Romans 6:22; I John 5:11-13).
B. Eternal punishment for the unsaved, no liberation nor annihilation (Matthew 25:41-46; Mark 3:29; II Thessalonians 1:8-9; Revelation 20:10-15, 21:8).
11. It is appointed unto men once to die and after that judgement (Hebrews 9:27) but those who have
accepted Christ as their Savior were judged at the cross and thus forgiven. All others will face
The Great White Throne Judgement where they will be found guilty and punishment assigned
(Revelation 20:11-15).
12. There will be a judgement of Christians after they die by Jesus to determine their individual awards
(2 Corinthians 5:10)
13. Marriage is reserved between one man and one woman only (Mark 10:6-9) Marriage is a
sacred bond that the church recognizes and supports. It is the basis for family.
14. Homosexuality is an abomination (1 Timothy 1:8-11; Leviticus 18:22)
15. Abortion is murder (Proverbs 6:16-17)
16. Jesus Christ is the only intercessor between man and God the Father (1 Timothy 2:5).
We may ask others to pray for us or we may pray for others but only through Jesus. We
recognize born again Christians as saints but do not pray to or through saints living or
passed on.
17. Children should be raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
Parents are responsible for teaching their children good manners, hygiene, and responsibility.
Matthew 5:13-16 New King James Version
Believers Are Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
